Description:

This is a very interesting section of Malcolm Gladwell's Outliers: A Story of Success. This section delves into the legacy of coming from a culture of honor which is generally used to describe the American southern culture and it's relation to ultra-violence.

“Culture of Honor” is a term generally used to describe the American southern culture and is related to the use of violence for the purpose of maintaining a reputation. This quality is viewed to be important for a man in any region where gaining resources and keeping them depends on the community’s belief that the man can protect those resources against predators.

I think there are some striking similarities to Fox ButterField's All God's Children: The Bosket Family and the American tradition of Violence.
